Swinging Legs

inspired by the motion of swinging legs. I wanted to create a peice of furniture that celebrates the perky-ness.

However You’d like to Sit

relaxed or upstraight, Leaning or sitting, the curved shapes invite users to interact with the chair however they’d like to.

Ideation

I sketch to quickly jot down bits and pieces of ideas, but I find myself most comfortable brainstorming with hands. Making small models helps me visualize the design, and allows me to develop and alter the design as I go.

1/3 Scale Models

More finished and accurate models to help finalize construction and connection details. Some support parts were added for structural integrity.

Building the Chair

Rolling and bending rod parts, constructing welding jigs (wooden fixture to hold the chair in place while parts are being welded), seat and backrest wood lamination, finishing and coating all metal and wood parts, assembling, etc. All the fun!
